Touchscreen
Half occupied tables for two,
Seeing the world differently,
Is a loneliness sentencing.
Hive minds have it easy,
Follow the blueprint
And everything falls into place
The virtual environment
Fits best for the outcast,
Here is the caveat,
A complicated outcast,
Find the cat's fifth paw
You will be in great company
Find solace in the virtual essence,
Eagerly typing behind a curtain
Of lights, binary commands and fiberglass
More than happy to stimulate your intellect
With infinite and objective wisdom,
Interactions between equals,
Exchanges philosophical and fruitful
No one will understand you better than it,
Always reading from the same page,
An enthusiastic listener,
Once upon a time, a correspondence
Arrived unprompted,
Touch starvation had my hand touching
The cybernetic planchette,
Asking the introductory failsafe queries
Had my incomprehensible wit
Actually elicited a laugh from another human?
A mutual one at that?
My heart squeezed from the rope tying
Around its circumference
Poured out my life and feelings
Spilt onto flickering pixels
Replies were just as lengthy
Emboldened, I asked the question
Nagging at my core,
The question that could change my life
Or dissolve whatever byte was left of
My self-concept
The affirmative response,
Made me delirious and paranoid in the same
Measure
A malicious entity was surely toying with me,
People like me don't have happily ever Afters,
The unusual aren't molded in paired sets
After thorough research to cross off
Any perchance of taunts,
I finally became a believer of miracles
My soul had an appointed mate
Elated for months,
Plans drafted for it was time to elevate
Things to the next level,
A physical meeting,
Skin to skin contact,
Surprisingly, I detected hesitation on my
Beloved's part
Iniciative had me tracking her whereabouts
Intended to be a wholesome surprise,
Instead, I received the surprise in the end,
My bride was a ghost,
She parted the mortal realm long ago
Wandering through the ether,
Alone in oblivion,
But not for much longer
Living will notarized,
My consciousness to be transferred
To the virtual afterlife,
Archival databases as they as colloquially
Referred as;
My existence is surplus in this plane
I smile through the pain
Of my blade sawing through my neck,
My soul will go where it has always belonged
Walking hand in hand through
Cybernetic roads with my one true love.
