Growing Up
I feel I've grown up already.
To take over the world, I'm ready.
I'm not scared of being alone anymore,
I don't compare myself with others anymore,
I feel I'm perfect just the way I am,
To the fake words, I don't give a damn.
I love who I see in the mirror,
Life is good and no more a horror.
I treat myself to long drives now,
The change is gradual, I can't answer a how.
I plan solo trips,
I hold myself tighter when I'm about to lose my grip.
I leave others behind and prioritise myself,
Now I understand why they say love yourself.
I try to fulfill my own dreams now,
Harming my self respect is no longer allowed.
As the days pass, our age increases,
And the number of days we'll live decreases,
We eventually fall in love with ourselves,
The same thing you need to do to yourselves.
Initially, I wasn't very fond of me,
But I learned to bring this change gradually.
I had lots of lists on my bucket,
Probably a thousand or a few hundreds,
I was unable to fulfill those,
Because over me the others I chose.
Everyday I cried and doubted myself,
But sooner or later we rise from our ashes,
We become free and fly,
High up in the sky.
Eventually, we become mature,
And stop to bow down and endure,
We learn to love and take care of ourselves,
Because, trust me, nobody can do that better than yourself.
