Ache
I took flight in a dream not long ago
I was a stranger roaming lands complete unknown
There were mountains tall enough
To contain the ambitions I held
And valleys deep enough to contain
The insecurities always inside of me
A lone pilot, I flew into a catacomb of oblivion
Touching every part of my skin, the winds roared
A resemblance of what I could have been
Floated through me as a ghost of things left for good
And I kept flying like a soul let free from its bindings

When the eyes opened and reality caved in
I was left with all too familiar an ache
That refused to leave my tired bones
Even though the dream was long gone
Even though the ashes were all that was left
