painting the sky
God paints the sky everyday.
He begins and ends with fire. He paints yellow, orange, pink, red.
Then he paints satin black, a glowing moon, and countless spots of light.
On days he paints blue and perhaps some billowing clouds, he sends sunshine.
Sometimes he paints the sky and clouds a foreboding gray. Then he sends rain.
Yet these aren’t the heavens.
God doesn’t reside in the sky, but if you look, you can find him there.
