What's wrong in taking dowry?
I'm taking over someone's burden,
I totally deserve to keep some conditions,
What's wrong in it?

A girl is never a burden,
Infact she is a precious gift to the world,
Your dowry demands are a burden,
Which kills numerous girls,

But even girls have demands,
She wants her husband to have a house,
And want him to earn a good amount,

A shelter is basic need,
Everyone has the right to have it,
You want her to took over all your responsibilities,
You want her to look after your family without expecting a single penny,
You want her to be well educated,
But don't want her to work & earn for herself,
For you she leaves behind everything ,
& travel to a strange new place,

Then why won't she expect you to give her atleast a good lifestyle,
And some money to spend on her needs,

Every year a thousand of girls,
Are harrassed and killed,
Just because the dowry demands are not fullfilled,
And harrassment & murder crimes,
No matter by what name you call it.

what's dowry?

In many parts of India, a bride's family pays a substantial sum in dowry to the groom's family to take on "the burden of a bride". However, when the dowry isn't enough, the groom's family demands additional gifts. If these demands are not met, the bride is often subject to domestic violence and even killed on the part of the husband and his family. Although the Indian Government enacted the Dowry Prohibition Act in 1961, as many as 11,000 to 15,000 Indian women are still murdered for their dowries each year.
