Its funny sometimes how we trick ourselves
Into believing we are valued by anyone else
Cause truth be told, in the end
You are truly your only friend
Those that you love may say it back
Don't be fooled by words if actions lack
You could spend years with someone and still come to find
They can walk away abruptly & leave you behind
You never truly know someone else's heart
Until the moment they go and rip yours apart
I may sound pessimistic, I know I do
