I don't know how it works,
But I know it doesn't work for me,
There's something I've got to live up to,
Yet there is nothing for me to live for,
I wish I could hold on to it,
Yet so far away,
Just seeing it from afar,
It isn't so hard to just say the words,
Might hurt,but it hurts knowing it hurt you,
Wish I could do it for you,
Be strong and be there,
Yet I am consumed with fear,
Fear of rejection and disappointment,
For who life ought to make me,
Hard as I might try to change me,
I don't know anything other than being me.
