Stay, or Go

Think about a time in your life when you couldn’t make a decision, and write a poem based on it.

where has the time gone, I remember not to long ago. when life was going down hill fast. I was so scared, not knowing how or where you would end up next.

the fear in my heart, drove me crazy
I had a choice to make, but was afraid of my decision
how could I live with myself, knowing you could be in danger

did I have any answers, I fear not
I don't think I had much of a choice
so as I dressed you in your best, to go visiting with your mama

I learned in close and smelled you hair, smelled of sweet peas
you look at me, and smiled
(i love you mama-grandma) is what you whispered in my ear and i love you princess

as my mind races back and forth, knowing your mama be getting impatient
i argue with myself about letting you go

this is making no sense to your mama, who's in a rush
as she stands looking at the two of us
well, is all she said

i guess she can
NO WAIT!!!
oh God I'm overreacting,
maybe for a while, just be back soon

as you head for the door, i start to overthink
knowing how small, and innocent you are
i say hey it's mighty cold outside, maybe she [and before i could finish my sentence]

OMG MOM, really!
she can just stay here
im to busy to wait for you to make up your mind!

and that was that, you stayed at home
where you would be safe and warm
and i wouldn't have to make a decision on weather you stay or go
