i lost today to me and the one i call mine
i lost because caring was a crime and sharing was an offence
because admission of my insecurities was a joke and making little things big did not matter
i lost because I set myself on fire to keep us warm and i lost my mind watching them ignore
i lost to the one i always thought wanted me the most

i lost because showing up on time was exhilarating and spending time was a waste
i lost because seeing stars in somebody's eyes did not make my world bright
i lost because I overcared for the person over there was completely unaware
i lost to the person who i call mine
cuz showing love was a crime and possession was a criminal offence!
