Aloneness
Aloneness walks itself through the streets of life
Its head hangs to one side, tilted precariously
Unable to shoulder its heaviness
Searching for a shoulder to lay itself.

Aloneness looks for similar shoulders
Scanning the streets of grief
Smiling at eyes that hold oceans of unshed tears
Waiting for a release in the alleys of darkness.

Grief lends aloneness a voice
A voice that is full of eerie silence
Ricocheting off a blank wall of darkness
Aching to be silently heard.

Aloneness has been with itself seemingly for aeons
Hands try to pry it away from the mirror of self pity, sympathy
Eyes of curiosity follow it
Alas! None can hear it say 'hold me close, just be there for me, that's it.'
