Ode to Backpack
Been with me since four years,
Seen my strengths and my fears.
Loosely hanging on my back,
Served like a knapsack.

Carrying school books which were no fun,
Heavy shoes, fantasies and a lot of junk,
Served its purpose like a soldier,
Retired when it grew older.

A comfort to hold, when bullied,
A vehicle for an animal who was in need,
A safe for hiding bad scores,
A friend to accompany in many tours.

Now it remains abandoned,
In the corner of a closet, it's shunned.
Empty but still heavy,
Not with books but with memories.
