At The End
At the end of the journey,
the light gets brighter,
and you can see more clearly,
and the glow is warm and inviting.

My scars remind me of the tough,
and disastrous moments that,
when they happened,
I thought would be the end of life.

I never thought I'd get where I am,
there wasn't a sure path in front of me,
I took each day as an adventure,
and, most days, only had guiding ideas.

The thought that I'd find my way,
that nothing could make me fail,
that my family offered a guiding light,
and they should always come first.

Watching my children grow,
into caring and intelligent adults,
with friends and lives of their own,
but showing respect and true love.

Second, I found purpose each day,
helping others find their way,
influencing but offering independence,
that's been my gift to the world.

Kind and gentle mentors and leaders,
in every part of my life,
were also amazing forces of good,
positive examples bound in integrity.

Choosing to guide my actions,
allowing those around me to shine,
never belittling innovation,
always sharing and caring as needed.

I know I've been blessed,
and I am grateful every day.
I pray that I am ultimately worthy,
still, the journey has proven divine.
