It's 21st century
And everyone is practising Gender equality
Even the girls now have right to education
Now Women & men work together
Women is no longer depends on men
For her finances

But what we see today
Is only one side of reality
The other side is the one
We all know but never talk about

She still isn't sent to school
Because the society thinks
Education is of no use to her
She is born for household chores

First day of her period
Is a day of celebration
For the world
As it is an indication of her divine powers

But from the next day
She is distanted off from everyone
And caged inside four walls
Because period blood makes her impure
And nobody should know she's on periods
shuu! talking about periods is still a taboo

She is married off
At a tender age to a stranger
Because the world
Still sees women as a burden

Her clothes are taken off from her
Without her consent
But the society treat her
Like a criminal

She isn't paid
As much as her male co- workers
Just because she's a girl

She isn't considered
For higher positions
Just because she's a girl

She has to pay extra
When she buys
Something for herself
She is liable for the pink tax

It's 21st century
We are all striving for a better world
But even women of today's world
Have to go through so much
