Staying Afloat
I’m going to accept
that crazy
is good
I can live with that
When I forget
my tongue lets loose
I flood the room
with salivated thoughts
expelled in rolling waves
of gastric reflux
Only then do I realize
I can’t swim
in acid
A warm sea
of cerebrospinal fluid
accompanies the happily unaware imaginative personality
stored in the recesses of aging neurons
just hoping to stay afloat
til
vacation ends
And then back at home,
fond memories
wash up at my door
