Is that why you play the music so loud ?
A beat to drown out the thoughts
to muffle the tears ?
Or,
to not hear that one voice, the slamming doors, and the dishes breaking ?
They asked.

And I replied smiling,
no, it’s because it reminds me of
the warmth of his words
his essence entwining with every song
his laughter dancing in every chord
his presence lingering in each note
the symphony of our shared moments

Him…
It reminds me of him.
