A woman stopped me as I walked
the beach to reach the sea,
“May I ask you a strange question:
What color do you see?”

I stared out at the shoreline
as a palette came in view,
a dozen shades of azure
from a patch of cobalt blue

Then rainbows formed, alluring,
from a sky I hadn’t seen
because I wasn’t looking,
I was walking in a dream
