India

India is my country.
A place with unity in diversity .
A kingdom that I love so much
Because of it's mesmerizing features.

It is a place with mountain ranges so high
That seems to converge with the majestic sky.
Cities so busy and villages so calm
A kingdom so colourful it has become.

Oh! How unique my nation is,
With it's alluring rivers, streams and mountain peaks.
A realm with forests and deserts so vast
It also has an intriguing past.

A history of India which inspires each one of us
And tells us about the British who were unjust.
The Indians were made to be their slaves
And were treated with nothing but disgrace.

Then rose some people who were unduly brave
And fought till their last breath.
Breaking each and every obstacle in their way
They presented India with it's freedom so gay.

Today is the day when the dream of many Indians came True
As it was the beginning of something New.
A new Era of Freedom so great
That tears of joy wiped every Indian's face.

I can say that I'm proud to be an Indian
Celebrating it's 76 years of freedom.
As I hoist it's flag with joy and delight
I wish that it's glory may never decline.
