rainy September

Hello darling
How are you today
I know I'm kind of late
But the traffic was horrible and I got delayed

You know it seems like just yesterday I saw you
You were standing under a mango tree
It was raining so hard that day
I ask you to share an umbrella with me

And just like remote control, we clicked
Right away we know it was meant to be
And we couldn’t wait to go home
And share our meeting with our family

Then I came to meet your parents
To ask if I could take you to a movie
It was the beginning of our love story
A moment in time that would go down in history

We went to the metro cinema in San Fernando
On our first date and holding hand
And you put your head on my shoulder
Watching “Kuch Kuch Hota hai” with Kajol and Shah Ruck khan

And I remember the first time we kiss
It felt like I was in a romantic dream
Then walking up on Horace Promenade
Holding hands and eating ice cream

And then for our engagement,
we had a really big party
And then over one hundred people came
To see us when we get married

Then we went on the honeymoon to Barbados
It was the best time of our life
Every moment we shared was magical
We enjoy calling each other husband and wife

Then nine months later
I took you to the hospital when you went into labor
And we bring in the world
Our precious beautiful little daughter

Then time just started to fly so fast
The time just keeps slipping away
And our once thick and long black hair
Then started to turn to gray

Just yesterday our little princess was running on the grass
Falling and bruising up her knees
And today she's a young woman
going to the University of the west indies

remember taking her to Dinesh parlor up the road
To buy a sweet drink and belly full cake
And waking all night with her
When she eats too much and have a tummy ache

Do you remember when my grandmother buys her a dolly house?
And a pink Barbie battery-powered car
Today she is a grown woman,
moved away from home and living so very far

I remember we sat up all night
worrying about her
When she leaves to go to college
She was staying there because we didn’t want her driving late in her car

now our little girl is a lawyer
and making the world a better place
she fights for the underdogs
and if you are guilty, she won’t take your case

so, tell me, honey, do you remember
when we met on that rainy September
it was a meeting just by chance
that becomes a lifetime romance

and once the years started rolling
we accept what comes along our way
but we weren’t prepared for the news
when you came from the doctor’s office that day

Laying in your arms as you got weaker
crying as you held me tight
making you warm Lipton tea
when you couldn’t sleep at night

you always like us to drive down to Usine
and eat dinner by Naz cuisine
and our last night together we were spent in bed
Watching “two and a half men” with Charlie sheen

Then the next morning I awake
But your eyes remained close
And as you were laid to rest
the florist delivered 24 dozen of your favorite red rose

So, tell me, darling do you remember
When we met on that rainy September
And now I am here all alone
In this cold December

You use to talk so much
Now you don’t even make a sound
Still, I come every day
And sit with you here on the cold ground

Our little girl is married now with her own family
I wish you were here with me
But you leave behind for us
many years of happy memories

Time will run away eventually
We all know that it does
And I will meet you one day again, my love
as our little girl will lay me next to you
