The Human Condition
#WritcoPoemPrompt76
Why do people do bad things?
A question that often rings
Through the halls of human thought
In every language, every talk.
Perhaps it's greed that leads them on
Or anger that has never gone
Unresolved within their heart
Tearing their very soul apart.
They may have hurts that run so deep
They resonate within their sleep
Tormenting their mind all day
Bringing only darkness, no light nor ray.
Maybe they are lost in pain
And don't know how to heal again
So they lash out at everyone
Trying to find some peace, but none comes.
It's hard to understand sometimes
Why people do these evil crimes
But it's important to remember
That we all have moments of disremember.
Let us be compassionate and kind
For we never know what's in another's mind
And perhaps we can help them see
A better way, with kindness, how to be.
