over time all of us
receive a few small packages
of fate
sometimes even large ones
none of these
left unpacked
since we're far too curious
about what might be in there

sometimes there are
beautiful things in it
and sometimes not
then in vain
we search for a return slip
then we have to
keep the content
for better or
worse

all of us

some corner
or built into an
imposing tower

in the packages
they rarely remain
unpacked
since we are
