Why Mom
"Mom why don't you ever say anything to Dad???"
"The Man of this house, he is."
"But you are the woman, and do every job here,
He just brings home money that's it."

"I know honey, but,
He toils a lot to get us food."
"But without you cooking,
It's no good."

"Okay, we both work equally,
To get our lives going."
"Then why does only he gets to scream at you,
And you listen, saying nothing???"

"Oh honey, don't ask so many questions,
We were taught to keep quiet."
"And you too are educating me with the same say,
So this inequality will continue till the exhaustion of light?

I don't want to do all the chores
When brother gets to sit, study, and chill all day,
I too want to become triumphant,
'I want to be like her.'everyone will say."

"But honey you're a girl,
You can't study, work or go out,
We women are meant to be at home and raise children,
And in front of men, we can't shout."

"But Mom, I want to change this,
And and earn money like a man."
"But you can't, that's it,
For earning money you have to become a man."

I am a girl and I raised questions before Mom,
Which were never before asked.
And I realised a sad truth,
Every house has sexism, just masked.

Dad loved cooking, but,
He was said, 'Don't behave like gays.'
Mom wanted to work but wasn't let to,
This proves discrimination exists in both ways.

Sexism exists everywhere but starts at home,
Let's break this chain and change the norm,
And teach our boys and girls,
To respect each other and be independent,
So that each of their interest unfurls,
And this is spread everywhere like some sweet scent.
