Let’s look back, my friend, and reminisce,
To a time when shadows cloaked the bliss,
In the sixties and seventies, a bitter race,
A landscape marred with prejudice, a shameful trace.
Racism thrived, from the streets to the halls,
Had sheets on their heads, they echoed their calls,
Not all white folks were draped in disdain,
Yet the scars of the past still linger, remain.
In a world where color drew lines in the sand,
A black family moving, seen as a brand,
The bricks and the barriers, the struggle to claim,
A space in a neighborhood, the bitter, the blame.
Fast forward to now, it’s twenty-twenty-four,
The echoes of hatred still knocking at the door,
Oppression is veiled, yet the cruelty thrives,
Children look up, but it’s adults who...
