Dew, in the Morning's Glow
Two young lovers
tell each other,
"I'll love you till I die!"
They vowed their love
will last forever;
and never to say
goodbye.

They pledged to have
the years ahead,
grow into memories;
to grow old,
and to look back,
sharing
their sweet reveries.

But when you're old
and love someone
who cannot
be with you,
can you wait,
for a few years,
like you were
young and new?

No longer the
copious rain
That lasts
for days on end.
Now, the dew
that cligs to petals,
before the rain
descends.

We've had more
yesterdays apart,
than will be
tomorrows;
and every day
that comes and goes,
slips into
the shadows.

But I still hold out,
there will be
a time
for me and you.
Though it can only
last as long,
as sun dries
morning dew.
