Born black in a family
she didn't choose
Strictly following her naive mothers
teaching on how to became a good
wife and mother in future.

Watched her brothers attend school
and left home to cook for them,
little did she know her wings
were being plucked away.
The oldest man in the village brought
her family many cows and she was
the happiest to be betrothed,
another wing was plucked.

The traditional music played loudly,
she was facing the knife,
with grace of a woman,
in the name of being accepted in
the community.

With the wings of education,
wings of choosing her lifetime
patner,
mutilation;an against pleasure principle
done to her,
