At The Traffic Light
Lying on the backseat
Of this metal cocoon
With younger eyes
I once stared through
the portal to the outside world
Where everything and nothing
happened around me
all at once
And although the day was dead
The city was still breaming with life
Replacing the sun
With orange streetlamps
And a kaleidoscope of neon lights
However, I find my eyes trailing a person
His eyes
Fixed on the black tar
Totally oblivious to my existence
Yet still when the sky turned green
I couldn't help but feel a tinge
a tug
a pull
Of sadness
Because for just a moment
you were a character within my story
while Fate didn't even have the inspiration
or perhaps the ink
to write me into yours
And I'm left on a cliffhanger
never knowing
If you ever made it back home...
