Reflections
I saw the reflection of this tree and wondered
Was it thirsting to see itself?
Did it send out those branches to scout
For places from where it could?
If it did, is it narcissistic?
Or just wants to know what it looks like?
Like us humans do checking our hair or lipstick
Does it check where attached are it's new leaves?
Does it lament not seeing some part
that it saw the last time it looked?
Or celebrate that it's got new leaves?
Or revel in the fact that it's reach has increased?
Or maybe it is grateful that it exists
When so many around have gone.
That it has access to sunlight and birds
And water it needs from that pond!!
