bad people care too
I think that's something you never knew
sometimes the arms of a stranger
can feel less like danger
but a home with the faint smell of sunflowers
you got too caught up in the warm of the hugs
to notice that the house is infested with bugs
by the time you notice the knife your back
you are so desensitized by the sweet scent of sunflowers
that you can't feel yourself oozing blood
so you lean into your persons arms
as they whisper in your ear how they'd do you no harm
but you knew how they hurt you, didn't you?
you just didn't care if they did
you liked the warmth more than anything
when they whisper how much they love you
did you believe them because you felt they did
or was it because you can't love yourself
so you let a stranger do it for you
was it worth ignoring the bugs to receive warm hugs
we're the scent of sunflowers
worth feeling cherished for only an hour
so when your body is sprawled out on the floor
and your person isn't holding you anymore
you realize that the hugs were never warm
your vision of affection was just deformed
and then you notice that the warmth
came from your oozing blood all along
as your vision blues you watch your person walk away
as they did not love you anyway
so you closed your eyes and took a breath
enjoying any scent of sunflowers
that you still had left
