SEARCHING FOR ME
In this body I awoke
After years of childhood slumber
Time already running out
And age an ever-increasing number

Into the world I was sent
A battle mine alone to fight
Instincts beginning to sharpen
Goal clearly in sight

Separating wheat from chaff
Virtue from vice
Avoiding the snares of man
A walk on thin ice

Peer pressure always knocking
On the doors of the mind
What is common is not good
Real treasures are hard to find

Defying all odds, I stand my ground
Called a sadist and a geek
Never one to pick a fight
Sometimes it is more courageous to be meek

Friends come, friends go
With some I can't quite connect
Others are wolves in sheep's clothing
Needing wisdom to detect

Trudging on in life's journey
Past the ups and downs
Walking the streets of destiny
Through familiar and strange towns

As for my quest; it's not yet over
Still looking out for me
Until my inner self I discover
Unaccomplished my mission would be
