~ MAYFLY ~
Oh, my negligent mind
That which keeps wandering around
In search for a residence,
Keeps getting thwarted with the burden of
Expectations and artful manipulations.
I have lost my vector,
I have lost my will.
I have lost my credibility
I have lost my edge.

Oh, my naïve heart
That which keeps up with the fledgling rush of blood
When it sees that face in the crowd,
It doesn't learn from the lessons of yesterday
The bitter heartache and obsession of something which never belonged.
I have lost my innocence
I have lost my alacrity.
I have lost my touch
I have lost myself.

Oh, but I did pick up a few things over time
I have learned to use a glue to fix the antique
I have learned to appreciate Ludovico Einaundi's compositions on my Spotify playlist
I have learned to stare at the sky with eyes wide open and expect nothing but to witness the precipitating Evanescence.
I have learned to open my self to others and shut myself down at the same time.

I have learned to live my life like a mayfly
But only I get to start over in the dawn after I burn away each night.
