The Call 🤙
A text message came through one dark night,
Asking me to take someone's life.
I was shocked and scared, unsure what to do,
But then the phone rang, and I knew.

The caller's name was Rita, I could tell,
She asked if I knew a man quite well.
I answered yes, not knowing what to expect,
But then she asked if I could do something suspect.

She wanted me to kill, to take a life,
And I was left with a feeling of strife.
I hung up the phone, my mind in a haze,
But then she called back, in a frantic craze.

She needed to know if I was the one,
To carry out this deed, to get it done.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing,
My thoughts and emotions were quite endearing.

I told her no, that I couldn't do it,
And she hung up the phone, feeling unfit.
I sat there in silence, my heart racing fast,
Wondering how long this feeling would last.

The night was long, and my mind was weary,
But I knew that I had done something quite dreary.
I couldn't help but think of what could have been,
If I had said yes, and committed this sin.

But I knew that I had made the right choice,
To listen to my conscience, and use my voice.
And so I went to bed that night,
With a sense of relief, and a feeling of light.
