Spoken words can feel like fire
when they are filled with insults,
the sting of emotional hurt
with the sting of degrade,
whether from others, or self.

Spoken words are filled with emotions,
whether jealousies, frustrations, fear,
the self talk when we’ve failed,
the sting of the same coming from others.

When we learn to take nothing personally,
we learn to see different views,
what went wrong,
how things can be done differently?

The view of what is working,
the view of what is not working,
to make the changes
that carry us forward.

There’s no need for judgment,
regardless of who it’s from.
The learning view creates the path
that leads the projects forward.

In seasons of insults,
fear and frustration,
take nothing personally
and let learning lead.
