2012
From the 25th floor, he looked out at the city below,
A miniature world, alive with a pulsing glow.
People bustled along the footpath, a distant hum,
Cars weaved through the streets, honking impatiently as they come.

Despite the chaos, he felt a sense of detachment,
A peaceful calm that he couldn't quite catch.
The light caught the skyscrapers just so,
A symphony of beauty in this chaotic show.

He couldn't help but wonder about the lives below,
What struggles they faced, what dreams they bestowed.
The city was alive, a living organism of its own,
Pulsing with energy and life, a story to be known.

Amidst it all, he felt a sense of loneliness,
A yearning for something more, a need for happiness.
Leaning against the balcony railing, he let out a sigh,
Taking in the peace amidst the chaos, as time went by.

As the clock ticked closer to the hour of 12,
It was time to say goodbye to the year 2012.
He closed his eyes and let himself disappear,
Into the crackling sounds of the fireworks, a moment to revere.

A tear rolled down his cheek, as he let out all the pain,
The sound of the explosions masking his soft sobs in vain.
As he opened his eyes, he felt a sense of release,
The new year a chance to start anew, to find his inner peace.

The world was still there, the city still alive,
But he had made a vow to himself to thrive.
A blank slate, a new chapter, a destiny to change,
With hope in his heart, his life he would rearrange.
