Thief's story
Thief that I rather am
Stole through the night and hey-
It's the situation that made me scam
I ain't born that way...
Walking through the road across
Man as careless as the wind stood disarray
Stealing or not by the coin toss
Funny isn't but lo I need money okay...
Striking a conversation when the iron was hot
Followed him home and that is all
To cook his food was his demand on the dot
This is my story's starting call...
From him I learnt words and characters
Understood his daily schedule
Learning credited a path for achievers
Thus here I am hoping to learn a roomful...
Came his payday on the clock
My time to steal also knocked by
Night I stole his money and ran to the dock
My mind became a mess, did I hope for a goodbye?
Hesitant in my walk I waited for what seemed a day
Finally I chose to go back without a delay
Placing the money back as I didn't wish to betray
Felt ashamed that I stole through the halfway...
I woke when the sun dawned
Saw that person checking through the notes
Its seemed that it had rained when I ran beyond
The notes were wet they were taken out it promotes...
I stole a glance at the man ahead
Not a change in his mood did I find
He acted as nothing happened instead
Went by with his work that he'd left behind...
Times later I understood, I got a second chance
Grateful as ever will I be in this account
My mindset and behaviours will enhance
This gift is treasure that none other will surmount...
Poem of a story I read in my textbook...(The Thief's story-Ruskin Bond)
