I am Wrong, He is Right
In the garden of Eden
we name things,
carve their words into the enamel of fangs,
claws,
antlers,
beaks,
petals,
stems,
bark,
bear,
jaguar,
hawk,
snake,
rose,
thorn.
I’m wrong
He is right.
I’m woman,
he’s man.
I’m Lilith,
he is a memory.
I’m cast out
he’s remarried.
I’m condemned
and so is he.
I’m comfortable in my skin
he is struggling with the cable knit
of sin.
I am a lesson
he is a cautionary tale.
Eve doesn’t know me,
but I know her well.
