The Dreaded Review: A Poem About Facing Performance Evaluations in Adulthood
#WritcoPoemPrompt91
As kids, one of the scariest moments in our lives is when our parents look at our school grades. What is something similar to this in Adulthood? Write a poem about this.

In adulthood, we face a different test,
That makes us anxious, nervous, and stressed,
It's not about grades, but something just as dire,
The dreaded performance review that sets our hearts on fire.

We work hard all year, with goals in sight,
But the review looms, casting a shadow of fright,
Our boss scrutinizes every move we make,
And we pray our efforts will not be a mistake.

We brace ourselves for the feedback to come,
Will it be praise or criticism, or both combined as one?
Our stomachs churn as we await the final score,
Hoping it will be enough to keep us secure.

Our worth as employees is put on display,
And we're forced to face the verdict day by day,
But just like school grades, we can learn and grow,
And with hard work and dedication, success will show.

So let's face the review with courage and grace,
And strive to improve, no matter what the case,
For in the end, it's not just about the score,
But the effort we put in that counts even more.
