The brownish branch itself is thin,
but it commits a small, bloody sin.
It stings the beings with little spikes,
that's clearly not what it likes.
Evolution gifted these spines,
to defend what colourfully shines,
it is the red berrys and the green leaves,
that have to be protected from nasty thieves.
And if those wouldn't be,
our branch would look like from a normal tree.
