The Life of Someone

The masked man gets out the van
He plans on grabbing as much as he can
Do or die, he crashes through the door
A desperate cry to get on the floor
Let’s off his gun, greed he’s become
He trades his freedom for a life on the run

Out of the shadows and into the light
A well known man steps up to a mike
It runs through his veins, he loves to play
He’d even play if they didn’t pay
He calls no place home, he’s no fix abode
He’s swapped it all for a life on the road

He’s bear’s his name as a sign on a desk
So many clients to impress
Suited and booted, with a seat on the board
But no time for the beach when he’s sent abroad
Working at home in a vest is a perk
Doesn’t work to live, he lives to work

He empties the pot, to see what he’s got
Will he be eating or will he be not
Tea for one and a hot sausage roll
He sits on the bridge, searching his soul
The parks his retreat, sets up camp on a seat
He’s lost everything, spends his life on the street

A world away, there’s a yacht in a bay
The sun beats down on the deck where they lay
Under a crimson sky, so much wealth in their hands
They listen to the sound of their own jazz band
Their worries are none, unless pirates do come
They’ve left their old world for a life in the sun

A life on the road, a life on the run
A life at a desk or a life in the sun
A life on the street or a life with no one
Life can be painful, life can be fun
