This is the Day of my Birth

Day I began my sojourn here on Earth

I am going, going but not gone

Though I know one day I'll be done

And while I'm yet treading the ground

It's good to pause and look around

For opportunities I had and those I missed

Of love I should give or chances to assist

Though the walk has not been easy

Running and turning, tired and dizzy

Groping in tomorrow's dark

Going forth and back.

Expectations have been high of me

Of what I ought to do and to be

Some I have fulfilled

Others not fully revealed

I am not here by witches and wizards

As by Life's choices and their hazards

Still and yet ahead I plod

Only by the mercies of God.
