Overdue
Craving an overdue break,

That hopeful days never bring,

Contentment stays in old memories,

Where smiles are reduced by familiar gain.

A maelstrom grows behind stuck doors,

Where toxic vines trap a tender core,

And light falls as fog on dying grass,

As night pours, drinking to grasp.

Leaving days wasted on abandoned trails,

In a life with shows of hanging stills,

Beside dates darkening innate will,

She forgives, filing ragged nails.

Leading burrowing bites, to heal,

She lies in position for a better deal,

In darkness, the feel of melting ice cream:

Licks lined wounds in an overdue B dream.
