LOVE'S FRACTURED MELODY
Most of the time, I lived alone.
I got love, my love, that I kept for me
Then this day quiet as a night,
unaware, I wove the strains
of his favorite song.

He drew near,
We drank and danced with cheer
passion's flame ignited, like stars above,
and we made love.

On the third eve,
together we trod a Sacred mile,
joined in vows, hand in smile
timeless union, forever compiled.

In the morning light,
his once strong arms
did not protect me anymore.
They became whips, cruel and rigid.

His once cherry lips
did not sing for me anymore.
They became venomous canons,
rending and tormenting my existence.

His once warm brown eyes
did not grace me with admiration.
They became instruments of pain,
now cursing and loathing.

In love's grip, I succumbed,
though he proved a primal force.
Solitude could have been my refuge,
Yet, I don't lament; at least, I dared.
