Identity - A Lost People
If I could turn back the wheels of time,
I'd change history,
If I could peel back the mask,
I'd change history.
A people given to whims,
Fed crumbs of flimflam,
Torn apart from within.

A man foes are they of his own house,
Trigger, trigger bawled the youngster down the block,
As she watched her father dragged away by the cops.
They sang defiance in voices gone cold,
When the birds dropped the eggs,
On a trudging people,
Laying waste to citizens.

They sat with kings and etched a bow,
A people asleep with sorrow,
Hearts bleeding woes,
As they danced to the beats of their oppressors.
I know a song or two about a people,
Who fought and lost identity,
To defalcators who became their overlords.
