Children of Lost Laughter
In murky marshes of memories merry,
Of paper boats and kites fluttering free,
Frolic the failures in a roguish frenzy,
The children of lost laughter and glee.

"Oh, what mistake did I make when I raised you?"

The ones who danced with delight in drizzles,
Lost in fables of fantasy some call untruth...
Blowing bubbles bursting in brilliant fizzles,
And sleeping under sparkling stars that soothe.

"Can't even be better than those unfailing few!"

The ones who cried at the cruelty of excellence,
Unbelievably worthless, unimaginably uncouth...
Couldn't even tread the top of such nonsense,
Where the paragons must sacrifice their youth.

"Oh, what mistake did I make when I raised you?"

In murky marshes of memories melancholy,
Of torn report cards and tears of timidity,
Drown the disappointments in mucky misery,
The children of lost laughter and glee.

(I know this poem sucks)
