was lost
was cast out
ignored and forgotten
by a family that would only remember
when they could take advantage

knew no warmth
knew no home
isolated in the cold
away from the last trails of hope
not even shivering as he had used to

had a kind heart
had the love of a protector
fought battles to keep others safe
while not one eye lingered to notice
he was slipping away

He
saw no answer
saw no alternative
to the need to be free
from any pain that haunted
the life he did not want to lead

He
wished everything would end
wished the beat of his heart would stop
to bring him away and never awake
lost far from the plains he longed escape
gone from the home he would never attain

He
thought his life had no meaning
thought there was nothing left to live for
if eternity was pain then what was there to gain
there was nobody who cared to keep him safe
and no reason to live if life had nothing to give
