Ecstasy
I lay on my bed, squeezing time.
I shut the noise pouring into my ears- the children playing down, the car honking and the whirring of the engine of a lorry from far away.
I allow my mind to calm and feel- all that I want to, freeing myself entirely.
My body goes liquid and I listen to my heartbeats.
A camphor snakes within and I feel the warm tenderness at the tips.
The mounds and the valley seem hot springs, billowing from the cave.
My fingers, my palms, my soles pulsate and I feel waves crashing in my veins.
My lungs feel the want of air, the blood goes warmer, the magma inside explodes.
The heart is a frenzied horse now, the body an untamed bull, the numbness in the mind is like an ascetic floating in the air.
And then the fall, like bauls singing hymns, in ecstasy.
The darkness emanates light as everything closes in.
