About how conversation flows
When you’re not looking at each other

One is focused on the road ahead
The other watching the scenery

You don’t have to worry about their expression, their reaction
You can just look out the glass at the world and speak your mind

They will listen, quietly, gently absorbing
And then you will listen to them with that same, reverent, respect

I think we feel a bit more comfort
A bit more anonymity
A bit smaller
And a bit bigger

Being acutely aware
You are the only people who can hear what’s said in that car
And knowing that there are thousands of other
Road-tripping cars
Having their own road-trip conversations
