My Gulmohar Tree
I sat by you day and night
I watched you sway your branches showering those red gulmohars on the sod
You were tall and strong, your offshoots spread wide and round beneath the blue yonders bright
Birds sit on you, make their nests and nurture their nestlings on you, you enjoyed them and eased
Your shade caressed my skin from the beams
Your flowers slipped your love notes unto me
Your roots held on to my hems before I and the Light fled

But the hours of darkness creeped
Slowly the blue skies returned home
I sat there, he sat there, we stared the starry duvet in peace
The night was pleasent, chilly and filled with gulmohars
He smiled, She smiled, Hearts fluttered
But the times fleet...

The Light returned, It's was time, time I return,
leaving the tall gulmohar back, back to where he belongs,
With the winds and the rains, birds and the hymns, lights and the nights
Where he is happy and sound with no grief
