New Year 2021 🎊
When I wake up as this year ends
It doesn’t feel quite right,
Words weren’t around this time last year,
Not even seen the light.
We’d never heard of Covid,
Let alone the 19th strain,
And didn’t know the year would bring,
To many so much pain.
Then no self isolation,
Didn’t know what that phrase meant,
And shielding was for D and D,
Time not that old folk spent.
We then weren’t social distancing,
Another brand new phrase,
And couldn’t use our PPE,
We hadn’t reached that phase.
We couldn’t do a track and trace,
It sounded like some toys,
And didn’t wear protective masks,
We’d not yet heard that noise.
But now a vaccine gives us hope,
As 21’s approaching,
Need some folk to give it out,
So they will take some coaching.
To get things back to normal,
As the new year’s brought to bear,
But positive recovery,
Is what we need to share.
Global pandemic scared us,
But the vaccine’s eased our fear,
We hope it’s global introduction
Makes “happy new year”. .
