 Mind Games
It’s like I’m running and I’m running; but not getting anywhere.
I know he is right behind me because I can feel the weight of his stare.

My legs feel tired and heavy, my heart like it’s about to pop!
But I have to keep on running! For I’ll be finished if I stop.

The sweat trickles down my brow, falling onto burning cheeks.
There’s a ringing in my ears and it gets louder with every beat.

As my feet pound the pavement it sends shooting pains up my spine.
I maybe out of the woods but that doesn’t mean I’m fine.

The road ahead seems endless as its dimly lit by the Moon,
That constant deafening silence feels my soul with doom.

I know he’s probably mocking me, casually feasting off my fear!
And I know he will hunt me down until the morning light appears.

I try to fight this menace in every way possible.
Then just when I think I have won he’s there to watch my downfall.

I squirm at the sorry sight of him while he looks on and laughs.
So deep again I fall maybe this time will be the last.
