A Friend of a Friend
The greatest strength a man can have
Is to admit he is weak and ill-equipped
Not ready to be in control of his life
Not strong enough to stand on his own
No soul is free from burden and sin
No man can make this claim
For with God we have strength
And without Him face the flame
My faith has not been always strong
And I've made my share of mistakes
Once I was an evil man
Taking all that I could take
I lost a partner so long ago
And with her went my mind
My anger then just took control
As I repaid evil deeds with mine
Then I met a Christian woman
Who introduced me to a new friend
And with time and love we grew close friends
She and I- and Him
When my day is rough he lends and ear
When the days are great I know He's here
He gave his life so I could live
And there is no more treasured gift
My home is my sanctuary
It is big enough for three
And held within His loving hands
Are Him and her- and me.
