Kombucha
I pour a mixture of distilled water, black and green tea, and raw sugar
You are thirsty
A floating grey and lustrous blob of bacteria with dangling threads of slime
In a large glass jar
From the naked eye you are unappealing and repulsive
But like a thick sheet of ice over a great lake
You serve as a protective barrier for liquid gold below
A sweet and bubbly drink
A feeding ground for healthy bacteria
Its probiotics supporting the microbiome
Soon I'll continue the fermentation
Process in a glass bottle
Where the drink will carbonize
And go through a second fermentation
With every sip
I feel alert and energized
How you invigorate me so
